Handy Tips For Disabled Taxi Passengers

Blog

Getting a ride across town does not have to be challenging for someone without a car these days. Most people call a taxi (from outlets such as White Top Cab Company) when they need to get someplace and do not have their own transportation. However, if you are disabled, you may have found that catching a taxi can be hard if you have to do so at the last minute. Check out these tips for helping you always have the ride you need, even for those times you need one unexpectedly.

Calling Around Ahead of Time

Finding the best taxi service for disabled people in your area is easier when you do not need a ride. Being able to relax and look through listings for finding the taxi service best for you or a loved that is disabled is better and allows you more time for making the right choices. Many cab services do not offer handicap accessible vehicles. However, some cab services that do not have handicap designed vehicles do have drivers willing to help disabled passengers getting in and out of the car. These are little facts you can learn about each service by having the time to call and discuss your needs with each one.

Hailing A Cab From The Comfort Of Your Wheelchair

Thanks to mobile technology, you can hail a cab from the comfort of your home. This is especially beneficial if you are confined to a wheelchair. Adding an app to your mobile device is easy by visiting online and searching for rideshare apps. Once you have the app, hailing the ride you need is as simple as touching a few buttons. Planning and choosing a taxi service ahead of time gives you the time you need to locate companies that use your app and provide disabled benefits and amenities as well.

When You Need To Ride Alone

Many disabled people depend on handicap accessible vans provided by local health care agencies for getting to and from doctor's appointments. Some health care facilities sponsor the same vans for taking disabled people to get items like groceries. However, when you need to go visit a sick friend or go out to dinner, you need a ride of your own. Planning ahead for your personal trips can allow you to get the most benefit from taxi services that provide services for the disabled.

Being disabled does not have to cause you trouble getting a ride. Learning more about the disabled taxi services available to you is important for saving time, money and frustration.

Tips for Navigating Your Transportation Options While on Vacation

Many travelers face the same dilemma while on vacation -- is it better to rent a car or take taxis? I made some guidelines for myself to determine which transportation option to use during each vacation. First, I always rely on taxi-cabs in large cities, as I can walk many places and driving in heavy traffic is not for me. Rental cars are best for quieter locations. Second, I determine what is on my itinerary, if I have one at all. If I have a strict plan of where I need to go and when, then I take a cab. If I don't have a tight, planned-out schedule, then a rental car is more useful for driving around and checking out scenery. I created this blog to encourage others to stop stressing over which transportation option you choose and when. Make your own guidelines to make the choice easier.
